IBM System Z Mainframe Gets a Face Lift

Read an interesting article recently on how IBM is giving its system z mainframe computers a web-friendly face lift. In additional to possibly enticing younger generations to be interested, the new OS (IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS) promises to improve performance by 10 to 20 percent.

Additionally, the IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS Compiler will allow data to more easily be exchanged between websites.

The compiler, which works with the latest version of CICS and DB2, is due out in June of 2013.
